Maybe Bush Was Right
Frame this post because you may never hear me utter those 4 words above again.
After President Bush and his administration realized there were no WMD's in Iraq, they started re-writing history and saying the "real" reason they went into Iraq was to liberate the Iraqi people and spread democracy throughout the Middle East. As the insurgency grew and Iraq became the honey that drew the bees of Islamic radicals, that whole theory of spreading democracy seemed kind of ludicrous.
But now Iraq has had a moderately successful election, and the people of Lebanon have demanded that their pro-Syrian government step down, possibly the first step on the road to democracy in that notoriously troubled country.
There are also stirrings of the same kind of movement in Egypt right now.
Is it possible that Bush was right all along?
