Joining the 21st Century

Welcome to the Brahma Blogs - a place where some like-minded people who once lived within a 10-mile radius of each other in the 80's can now share thoughts, opinions and even feelings with each other even though everyone is scattered across the country now.
Haven't you ever heard a great CD, seen a good movie, read a good book, experienced a life-changing moment, screamed at the TV screen during a presidential debate, and thought to yourself - gee, I wish I could share this with all of my old friends?
Now you can!
Just sign up (it's free) to blogger.com with the e-mail invitation that I sent out to all of you.The only way this will work is if at least one of us makes an entry (also known as "post" to the uninitiated) every day and there are some healthy responses (also known as "comments" to the uninitiated).
We'll see how it goes and if everybody likes it, we'll keep it going.I figure it might be the only way to preserve the slim thread of familiarity that we have somehow been able to maintain over the last 20 years.
Please log on to this site every day, and participate in the discussions when you can.

I think this is a neat idea to try, but everyone should keep in mind that these sites have been hacked into a lot, so you might want to watch what you type.

As for me, I have been watching the Astros... anyone think they have a chance? Which is more likely: Kerry beating Bush, or Houston beating St. Louis?

Thanks for responding so fast. It'll be a few days before I get everyone on here because I don't have everybody's e-mail address yet.

As far as the Astros, I think they will push the Cardinals to at least 6 games, but not much of a chance to win the whole thing.

I give Kerry a better chance of beating Bush, but not much. I fear that more election day chicanery will force another court challenge and a delayed winner just like in the 2000 election although this time I think it's going to happen in Ohio or somewhere in the Midwest.

Well hey! I just spoke with Walter a few days ago and got a third party of how you're doing Curtis. How's LA? I've been attempting to reload software after a hd replacement. The downside to rural VT - dialup. So I've been online for days now. Thanks for the well timed diversion! I'm currently reading Hightower's Thieves in High Places. It's a "laughter thru tears" sort of thing. As for the elecion -- TiVo. It allows for easy fastforwarding during the excruciating dialog and instant replay for the comedy. And the deciding factor in the presidential race? Not "Eyerack" nor that pesky domestic quagmire - my vote goes to the candidate with a solid grasp of adverbs. Any seconds?

    Welcome aboard, Edie!
As I told Russell, it will take a few days for everyone to join and get logged in, but once they do, we should start making new Posts when any new topic comes up. To make a post, you just logon to blogger.com with whatever username and password you gave it, then hit the Create a Post button and put down your random thoughts, observations or questions.
Or if you want to just comment on a current post, click on comments then on the next page, hit the Add Comment page like you did for the one above.
I've heard the Hightower book is good, but I had to stop reading anti-Bush books after about my 4th one because it was just making me too angry and made me feel powerless even though I am actually a member of the national media (I work for the Today Show on NBC now).
I wish the election would be based on adverbs, but unfortunately msot of the electorate seems to think it's better to have a simpleton who speaks in simple sentences than a thinker who speaks in nuances and complex ideas.
I have more questions and thoughts about the presidential race and I'll put in a new post after a few more people join in.
    Glad to hear from you.
